Great things are happening at Burnett! Our Program Challenge classes have started a raised bed garden, and just installed our first bed. Students have been involved in this hands-on STEM project from the ground up, including finding and measuring the space, assembling the bed, determining supplies and volume of soil needed, researching fall crops, planting seeds, and collecting data to measure growth, to name a few. This garden initiative is off to a great start, but we have plans to expand our project in the hopes of installing enough raised beds to benefit the entire school. We have yet to reach our fundraising goal and are seeking donors. If you would like more information about this project or are interested in making a tax-deductible donation, please visit

In addition to our garden project, our Tiger Cubs have also been busy building a soap box derby car for this year’s Google Gravity Games. We received a generous donation from our sponsor, Douglas County Chamber of Commerce, and are hard at work integrating math and science in this hands-on STEM activity. This will be our first year to compete, and the Burnett team is very excited! Please join us on October 22nd to watch as we compete against other schools and organizations in our community.
