General Music Class

Each week in music, students participate in activities planned using Georgia Performance Standards based instruction. Georgia Performance Standards were modeled after the National Standards for Music, as published by the National Association for Music Education and developed by the National Committee for Standards in the Arts.

During music we have fun while learning as we:

  • Sing a Lot!

    • Georgia Performance Standard 1: Singing, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music

  • Perform on many different instruments

    • Georgia Performance Standard 2: Performing on instruments, alone and with others, through a varied repertoire of music

  • Read and Notate music

    • Georgia Performance Standard 3

  • Improvise melodies, variations, and accompaniments

    • Georgia Performance Standard 4

  • Compose and Arrange music

    • Georgia Performance Standard 5: Composing and arranging music within specified guidelines

  • Listen to, analyze, and describe music

  • Evaluate music and music performances

  • Take part in learning experiences related to understanding relationships between music, the other arts, and disciplines outside the arts
